WHEN

Starting on July 31st, our training sessions will be held every Thursday evening. These sessions will run from 7-8:30 PM, providing an excellent opportunity for players to learn new skills and enjoy the game.

WHO

Adults only. All ability levels are warmly welcomed and encouraged to join us. We have something for each and every one of you!

WHERE

The programme will take place at the new 5 court hall Sport Centre on St John’s Road, a facility known for its excellent amenities and welcoming environment!

Led by former England International Lydia Powell and supported by an amazing team of current and former female players, you’ll be surrounded by inspiring women every step of the way.

Lydia “Boom” Powell

Lydia Powell is the founder, coach, and former England international and National Champion, behind Boom Badminton. Coaching badminton is Lydia's true passion, and it shines through in everything she does – whether it’s mentoring players or fellow coaches.

  • With nearly a decade of experience, she’s dedicated to growing the sport she loves and ensuring it reaches more people. She’s proud to be one of the few independent, progressive, full-time coaches in the country, always striving to bring the very best in coaching to the badminton community.

    Lydia holds Badminton England Level 3 (the highest coaching qualification) and Level 3 Tutoring & Assessing Qualifications. She has also had the honour of representing England as a Badminton Europe Staff Coach for two consecutive years, specifically selected to coach at their prestigious U15 camp, working alongside some of the best young players in Europe and collaborating with highly experienced coaches from across the continent.

    Lydia’s ultimate goal is to enhance the reputation of badminton across the country, and create more opportunities for people to play.

    Under Lydia’s leadership, Boom Badminton has grown into the thriving, forward-thinking community it is today, and she continues to inspire and elevate everyone around her with her knowledge, enthusiasm, and dedication to the sport.
